Easter Sunday

Good morning St. Peter! A most joyous Resurrection Day to you all. I know that church tradition is that we give us something important for Lent. But giving up meeting together was not the idea. Even separated as we are, we are still united as the church, and today is a day to celebrate God's victory over the grave. He won this victory for us, and it is a great day to celebrate that truth in our lives.

The message for today focuses on the Gospel reading in John 20 - as we see the sorrow of Mary Magdalene turn to utter joy when she realizes that her friend, teacher, and Savior is not dead, but alive.

Easter Sunday Hymns

Jesus Christ is Risen Today

Because He Lives

Christ is Risen

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!

our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross Alleluia!
suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing Alleluia!
unto Christ our heav'nly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
our salvation have procured; Alleluia!
now above the sky, he's King, Alleluia!
where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above Alleluia!
praise eternal as his love; Alleluia!
praise him, all ye heav'nly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus He came to love, heal and forgive He lived and died to buy my pardon An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow Because He lives, all fear is gone Because I know He holds the future And life is worth the living, just  because He lives

How sweet to hold a newborn baby And feel the pride and joy He gives But greater still the calm assurance This child can face uncertain day, because He lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow Because He lives, all fear is gone Because I know He holds the future And life is worth the living, just because He lives

And then one day, I'll cross the river I'll fight life's final war with pain And then, as death gives way to victory I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He reigns

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow Because He lives, all fear is gone Because I know He holds the future And life is worth the living, just because He lives

Let no one caught in sin remain Inside the lie of inward shame We fix our eyes upon the cross And run to Him who showed great love
And bled for us Freely You've bled for us

Chorus

Christ is risen from the dead Trampling over death by death Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave Christ is risen from the dead We are one with Him again Come awake, come awake Come and rise up from the grave

Beneath the weight of all our sin You bowed to none but Heaven's will No scheme of Hell, no scoffer's crown No burden great can hold You down In strength You reign Forever let Your church proclaim

O death, where is your sting? O hell, where is your victory? O church, come stand in the light The glory of God has defeated the night
O death, where is your sting? O hell, where is your victory? O church, come stand in the light Our God is not dead, He's alive, He's alive
